The Botanist - Chester - 14/2/23

We came here to try the Valentines Day set menu for a late lunch, and we were not disappointed! All of the staff were friendly and helpful (special mention goes out to Josh and Jamie), and then the food came...

The starters were calamari and crispy mushrooms, and they had been cooked to perfection, they came with dips and garnish that complimented them and were exquisitely presented.

The mains were a Superfood Salad w/Trout and a Hanging Chicken Kebab. The kebab hung over the chips letting the juices and oil season them as the meal went on, and the salad had a wonderful blend of flavours.

We had planned to sample deserts, but we were unprepared for the generous portions that we received for our meals (we'll get you next time!). But we did manage to sample some of their event cocktails, one of us were boring and stuck to whiskey leaving all the hard work to me.

The first cocktail was called The Love Potion, it was presented in a small bottle containing the cocktail and a small glass tankard, it had edible glitter in it and the garnish was a love heart sweet on top (this was my favourite of them) it tasted very sweet which was perfect as one of us has a huge sweet tooth, the drink had Lanique Spirit of Rose, Bacardi Raspberry, rhubarb cordial and tonic, it was quite refreshing.

All in all this was a great experience that was well worth the visit and we can't wait to go again.
